Thordata is a Hong Kong-based proxy and web data provider that has carved out a niche as one of the cheaper full-stack alternatives to BrightData and Oxylabs. Their pitch is simple: a sprawling residential IP pool, datacenter and mobile add-ons, plus a scraping API with anti-bot bypass and JavaScript rendering, all priced low enough that solo scrapers and small data teams can actually afford to test at scale. If you have been priced out of the enterprise tier and want something more serious than Webshare without the BrightData invoice, Thordata is the kind of provider that shows up on the shortlist.

The headline number is a pool of 100M+ residential IPs across 190+ countries, with city-, state- and ASN-level targeting on the residential plans. The breakdown by country is reasonable for a budget provider — roughly 5.6M IPs in the US, 1.9M in the UK, 1.4M in Germany, 1.3M in France — and they extend the lineup with around 600K real 4G/5G mobile IPs, static ISP proxies, datacenter proxies, and an "unlimited" residential plan billed by the day. Most residential IPs are sourced through a peer/SDK network, which is standard for this price band but worth knowing.

Pricing is the main reason buyers look at Thordata in the first place. Residential proxies are advertised from $0.65/GB on promo (list price closer to $1.05/GB), with monthly entry plans starting around $13. Static ISP and datacenter proxies start at $0.75/IP, mobile sits at $2.20/GB, and the Web Scraper API kicks off at $0.50 per 1,000 successful results with the SERP API at $0.70 per 1,000. Pay-as-you-go is available alongside monthly subscriptions, and Thordata offers a limited free trial. Refund policies, however, are not generous — multiple Trustpilot complaints flag this as a sore point, so treat the trial as your due diligence window.

On the product side, Thordata offers HTTP/HTTPS and SOCKS5 support, sticky and rotating sessions, a dashboard with real-time bandwidth and success-rate monitoring, and a Web Unlocker–style endpoint that handles CAPTCHA solving and JS rendering for sites where vanilla residential IPs are not enough. They publish SDKs and integration guides for Playwright, Puppeteer, Scrapy, Selenium and the usual antidetect browsers (Multilogin, GoLogin, Undetectable), and the API is straightforward enough to wire into n8n or a custom Airflow pipeline.

Thordata makes the most sense for scrapers, SEO agencies, e-commerce monitoring teams and SMB data shops who want residential and mobile coverage without committing to a $500/month BrightData minimum. It is a credible Decodo or IPRoyal alternative on price, and a clear step up from Webshare if you need real residential rotation rather than datacenter-flavored "residential." It is not the right pick for buyers who need ironclad SLAs, named-account support, or fully compliant ethically-sourced IP guarantees — for that the obvious choice is still Oxylabs or BrightData.

The honest trade-offs: Trustpilot and independent reviews surface recurring complaints about geo-mismatch (IPs resolving in a country other than the one requested), inconsistent ban rates on harder targets despite the "unblockable" marketing, support tickets that sit for days, and friction around refunds. The pool is big but freshness varies by country, and the cheaper plans share IPs with a lot of other tenants. Run a paid pilot on your actual target sites before committing to a larger plan, and budget for the scraping API on the hardest domains rather than expecting raw residential to clear everything.
