Avast SecureLine VPN is a consumer VPN from Avast, the well-known security brand with Czech roots that is now part of Gen Digital following its merger with NortonLifeLock. It targets everyday users who want a reliable, no-hassle VPN, often as a companion to Avast antivirus, and is one of the more capable VPNs in the antivirus-company category.

Avast originated in the Czech Republic, generally considered a privacy-friendlier jurisdiction, though as a Gen Digital brand it now sits within a US-headquartered corporate group. Avast had a notable data-privacy controversy involving its Jumpshot subsidiary, which sold user browsing data before being shut down in 2020; the SecureLine VPN itself states it keeps no activity logs and has undergone third-party audits. The apps offer AES-256 encryption, a kill switch, and DNS leak protection.

Compared with rivals like McAfee and Norton VPN, SecureLine generally performs better for streaming and offers dedicated servers optimized for Netflix and other platforms, plus P2P-friendly servers for torrenting. Its WireGuard support brings competitive speeds on modern apps.

The trade-offs are typical for the segment: a smaller server network than top-tier VPNs, comparatively higher standalone pricing, limited advanced configuration, and lingering trust questions stemming from the Jumpshot episode. For Avast customers and casual users it is a solid, user-friendly choice, even if it is not a leader for privacy purists.
