Because AVG and Avast share the same corporate parent, AVG Secure VPN runs on essentially the same underlying infrastructure and technology as Avast SecureLine VPN, just presented under the AVG brand and interface.

That shared lineage means AVG Secure VPN inherits both the strengths and weaknesses of its Avast sibling. It uses AES-256 encryption, offers a kill switch and DNS leak protection, supports the WireGuard protocol for good speeds, and provides streaming and P2P-friendly servers. As a Gen Digital brand it operates within a US-headquartered group, and the same Avast Jumpshot data-privacy history is relevant context for trust-conscious users.

AVG positions the VPN for mainstream buyers, particularly existing AVG antivirus customers who want a familiar brand for their privacy add-on. The apps are straightforward and beginner-friendly, with one-tap connection and automatic options for public Wi-Fi.

Functionally there is little to distinguish AVG Secure VPN from Avast SecureLine beyond branding and occasional pricing differences. It is a competent, easy mainstream VPN, but it shares the segment's limitations: a modest server network, limited advanced features, and the historical trust questions around its corporate family.
