About this tool

What Is the External Domains Checker?

The External Domains Checker loads a page in a real browser, collects every link that leaves the site and groups them by the domain they point to. You get each domain ranked by link count, how many different URLs it covers, what share of those links pass ranking credit, the anchor text used and, for well-known platforms, what kind of site it is.

Key Features

Every outbound link grouped by domain and ranked
Unique URLs, followed share and anchor text per domain
Followed, nofollow, sponsored and ugc split
Plain http links flagged
Social, video, code, shopping, news and reference sites labelled
Domain and link tables with CSV and JSON export

Why Outbound Links Deserve a Look

The sites a page links to say a lot about it. A review page that sends most of its links to one merchant reads differently from one that cites ten sources, and search engines notice the same patterns. Grouping links by domain turns a list of 80 URLs into something you can judge at a glance: who gets the attention, and how much of it passes ranking credit.

Followed, Nofollow and Sponsored

Each link is sorted by its rel attribute. Sponsored is what Google asks for on paid and affiliate links, ugc on user-generated ones, and nofollow on links you don’t want to vouch for. The split shows whether a page is handing out credit freely or holding it back, and the domain table shows the share for each site.

Common Use Cases

  • Auditing who your own pages send authority to
  • Checking a site before buying a link or placement on it
  • Studying which sources a competitor's best pages cite
  • Finding old plain-http links that need updating

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the External Domains Checker free?

Yes. It's free with a ProxyHorizon account, and every account gets 25 runs a day shared across all our data tools. You can read about the tool without signing in, but running it needs an account because each run fetches live data.

Does it check whether the links work?

No. It groups and counts outbound links. To check each link’s status, use the External Link Checker.

How are subdomains handled?

Links are grouped by registered domain, so blog.example.com and www.example.com count together under example.com. Links to the page’s own domain, subdomains included, are treated as internal.

Why do some domains have no kind?

Only well-known destinations are labelled: social networks, video sites, code hosts, big shops, major news outlets, reference sites, affiliate networks and government or university domains. Everything else is left blank rather than guessed.

Do you store my results?

No. We log which tool you ran, what you entered and when, so we can apply the daily limit. Results aren't saved, so export them as CSV or JSON if you want to keep them.
