Open Graph Checker
Preview and validate the share card
What Is the Open Graph Checker?
The Open Graph Checker reads a page's og: tags after rendering it and shows the share card they produce. It checks the four required tags, title and description lengths, whether the share image loads and how big it is, its declared size and shape, alt text, and whether og:url agrees with the canonical. Then it writes corrected markup you can paste.
Key Features
The Card Decides the Click
When someone shares a link, the card is all anyone sees: an image, a title, a line of description. If the tags are missing, platforms guess, and the guess is usually the logo and whatever text they found first. Checking the card before a campaign goes out is far cheaper than fixing it after it's been cached on every platform.
Fallbacks, Traced
When og:title or og:description is missing, platforms fall back to the page title and meta description. The checker shows exactly which value each field of the card will use and where it came from, so you know whether the card is deliberate or accidental.
Common Use Cases
- Checking landing pages before a campaign goes live
- Fixing ugly or blank link previews
- Auditing share images after a redesign
- Generating correct Open Graph tags for a new page
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Open Graph Checker free?
Yes. It's free with a ProxyHorizon account, and every account gets 25 runs a day shared across all our data tools. You can read about the tool without signing in, but running it needs an account because each run fetches live data.
What size should the og:image be?
1200 by 630 pixels is the safe choice for Facebook, LinkedIn and most other platforms. Keep text away from the edges, since different apps crop slightly differently.
I fixed my tags but the old card still shows. Why?
Platforms cache what they scraped. Use their sharing debug tools to force a refresh. This checker reads the live page, so it shows your new tags right away.
Does Open Graph help SEO?
It isn't a ranking factor. It affects how many people click a shared link, which is often how a page gets its first visitors.
Do you store my results?
No. We log which tool you ran, what you entered and when, so we can apply the daily limit. Results aren't saved, so export them as CSV or JSON if you want to keep them.
