Twitter Card Checker
Validate the card X shows for a link
What Is the Twitter Card Checker?
The Twitter Card Checker validates the card X builds for a link. It reads the twitter: tags and the Open Graph tags X falls back to, checks the card type against what it needs, loads the image, checks alt text and account handles, and shows which value each part of the card will actually use. It then writes corrected markup to paste.
Key Features
No Official Validator Anymore
X retired its own card validator, so the only way to know what a link will look like is to read the tags and apply X's rules. That's what this tool does, without an X account and without posting anything.
Open Graph Does Most of the Work
X reads og:title, og:description and og:image when the twitter: versions are missing, so many pages have a working card without a single twitter: tag. What you usually still need is twitter:card, to choose the large image layout, and an image that suits X's wider crop.
Common Use Cases
- Checking a link before posting it on X
- Fixing cards that show without an image
- Choosing between the summary and large image layouts
- Adding the missing tags to a site template
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Twitter Card Checker free?
Yes. It's free with a ProxyHorizon account, and every account gets 25 runs a day shared across all our data tools. You can read about the tool without signing in, but running it needs an account because each run fetches live data.
Do I need twitter: tags if I have Open Graph?
Not strictly. X falls back to Open Graph for the title, description and image. Add twitter:card to choose the layout, and twitter:image when the best crop for X differs.
Which card type should I use?
summary_large_image for articles and anything with a strong image. summary for short pages and documentation. The large card takes far more room in the timeline.
What image size works best?
For summary_large_image, a 2:1 image of at least 1200 by 600. For summary, a square of at least 144 by 144. Keep files under 5 MB.
Do you store my results?
No. We log which tool you ran, what you entered and when, so we can apply the daily limit. Results aren't saved, so export them as CSV or JSON if you want to keep them.
