It depends on request volume and target strictness. With rotating residential proxies you pay per GB rather than per IP, so a single endpoint can rotate through millions of addresses automatically. For datacenter scraping, a rule of thumb is one IP per 5-10 concurrent threads to stay under rate limits.
Proxies are necessary but not always sufficient. High block rates also come from poor request patterns, missing headers, and TLS fingerprints. Pair quality proxies with realistic browser headers, randomized timing, and optionally a scraping API or unblocker for the toughest sites.
